If you join active duty (full-time), you will always get paid for food and housing, experiences outside your state that can include oversees, and external resources like the GI Bill (free college) and VA loan (no down payment on housing).

You do not where you will be working at for years even when given the chance to pick your preferred locations. You will likely be homesick.

Pick a branch: Air Force, Army, Space Force, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard

Pick status of job: Enlisted (no degree, work oriented) vs. Officer (with degree, leadership oriented) → Active-Duty (full-time), Guard (part-time, tied to your state), or Reserve (part-time, tied to all states)

Pick career job: Ex. Technology, Engineering, Health, Resources, Security, Combat, Aviation
